This is a copy of the semi-weekly bulletin we send out to our mailing list.
We missed a bulletin two weeks ago, and a fair bit has happened, but we’re being light on detail with this one in order to send it out before Sunday!
The two main topics are the summer garden work and the ongoing recovery process. The former is pretty well caught up, and manageable. We still have some shortages of garden equipment, particularly for water collection and hosepipes. The recovery process is taking longer than we’d like, partly due to time constraints on our own abilities, and partly due to a variety of procedural things from insurance claim to planning consent. We’re making progress, but at about half the speed we’d like.
We’ve got a lot of reworked activities organised, and an expanded range of things happening. We’ve been doing garden work some Saturdays; we’ve had three special sessions clearing leaf mould and around the stone balcony. We’re set to have two more big group sessions the week of July 14-20. Queensbridge School are bringing about 60 Year 8s along for four days of community work, and we’re hosting a team of 40 adults on the Friday. The students will be tidying the brick floor are in preparation for KHARnival on Saturday July 20, and the adult group will be re-clearing woodland paths.
Things are relatively quiet after that, while we continue with site recovery, and a series of activities we’re calling Healing Ceremonies. See this post for more info.
Garden work this Sunday will focus on mowing, weeding, harvesting, and watering.
