SATURDAY 21st October, 11-4 is the date for our annual jamboree, Highbury Harvest. On the day we will celebrate our fabulous community, our apples, honey and other produce, along with exciting enterprises from our local neighbourhood.
There is always plenty to do to interest people of all ages. Of special note, we are joined by Pawfect Dogsense who will be on the meadow below the orchard, an apple press will be at your service at Four Seasons to press your apples. Please bring your apples washed, along with a clean container to take away your lovely juice!
There’ll be plenty more going on too. Details to come. Please join in on a Pay As You Feel basis. Funds raised will support our well-being programme, Stick Around.
Last but not least, there’s the Honeycake Bake-off, so we’re calling all cake lovers! Every year we all look forward to the very popular Honeycake Bakeoff, where keen home cooks are put to the challenge of creating delicious baked goods using more honey than sugar. The public judges these delicious creations (it is a hard job but someone has to do it!), trying a sample of each and casting their favourite as a vote. You need to be quick as we do sell out!
Do you have the winning recipe? This years title could be yours as well as the prize of 2 delicious Birmingham Food Tour tickets, worth over £80. More details and pre-registration are on Facebook, Highbury Orchard Community, email@example.com, 07875236140 (Rhiannon), or leave a comment on this page. Cake drop off 11-1pm on Saturday 21st October at Sunshine the campervan, Highbury Orchard, with your £3 entry fee. Public judging is from 1-3pm.
We’d love more volunteers on the day – to set-up and de-rig, co-manage our HQ stall and chat to people about our programmes.
To enter the Bake-off, offer volunteer time, and other enquiries, please contact Liz or David on firstname.lastname@example.org.
