Thank you for your interest in volunteering with us! Please read through the following descriptions and contact us if you would like to apply or have more information.
The outdoor work involves contact with groups from the community but does not require a DBS check as you would not be expected to work with a group on your own. The indoor work would be at our home-based office in Kings Heath or possibly in your own home, depending on our arrangement with you.
Woodland Play (Sundays 1:30 – 3:30) – helping the session leaders set out/put away the activities and engaging families during the session. Sessions are monthly on 3rd Sundays, except in April when it’s on 23rd April. We would also welcome another volunteer on Wednesdays (weekly 1:30 – 3:30, and or 3:45 – 5:15).
Stick Around (Thursdays 1:00 – 3:00) – sessions run for adults, some of whom need some extra support. Activities include conservation, craft and reflective thinking. Practical skills as well as people skills needed! [This includes a Thursday in April with Moor Green primary school, to help them create a small garden in their grounds. Several volunteers on this one day would be most welcome! Exact date TBA]
Work with local schools (Tuesdays 10:15 – 11:15 and 1:45 – 2:45) – there are specific dates coming up and are not every week. We hope the work will grow though! At present we have contracts with a nursery school and an infant school. Activities are similar to Woodland Play but a little more planned and directed.
Planning, Strategy and Liaison Work – this is partly thinking, and partly doing. We would like to share out various parts of the project development work. Sometimes this means identifying a list of tasks, and organising them. Other times it means attending meetings with other stakeholders and addressing issues of common interest. It could also include helping us develop project strategy, particularly as we work with the new management trust.
Office Support (Mondays or Fridays): includes data processing information about people, or about finance; bid-writing and other fundraising efforts, promotional work, volunteer coordination, and general office support.
